Astro Boy is the first, most popular Japanese television series that embodied the aesthetic that later became familiar worldwide as anime. It originated as a manga in 1952 by Osamu Tezuka, revered in Japan as the "God of Manga.". After enjoying success abroad, Astro Boy was remade in the 1980s as Shin Tetsuwan Atomu, known as Astroboy in other countries, and again in 2003. In November 2007, he was named Japan's envoy for overseas safety. An American computer-animated 3-D film based on the original manga series by Tezuka was released on October 23, 2009.
Its the story of a human child whose turn into a robot with by his father, whose a scientist. The father does not accept him as a robot and he tries to prove that he's the same boy as before. The story is pretty unique as such ideas were very scarce at that time. The idea is pretty innovative and interesting. Here the boy not only tries to prove to his father but also tries to fit in as a robot and understand other robots who were discarded by the humans. So Astro boy obviously saves the day,but he also tries to strengthen the relationship between the humans and the robots. It was nice anime to watch when i was a child, but compared to today's complex and new anime storyline its a bit childish and oldschool. But I bet its a blast for children nowadays too.
